Salih Yoluc is gearing up for his second full season in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, re-joining Oman Racing with TF Sport after a season with RAM Racing.

The Turkish driver will feel very much at home in 2019 as he teams up with Ahmad Al Harthy and Charlie Eastwood, two drivers he knows very well from both the Blancpain series and the World Endurance Championship.

After testing the new Aston Martin Vantage GT3, Salih is very much looking forward to the first round of the championship this coming weekend at Monza.

Salih, you return to TF Sport for this championship and you have two great teammates in Ahmad and Charlie. What are your expectations in the Pro-Am championship this year?

“I have been teammates with both Ahmad and Charlie before and had enjoyed it a lot. They are more than quick enough to get the job done, which is to win of course. Testing was really promising so if we can convert that to a race pace then we should be strong.”

You tested the new Vantage at Paul Ricard; how do you find it compares to the GT3 and the GTE that you know so well?

“It’s really different than the old Vantage GT3, there is actually one generation in between but it feels like two! The new generation of car is much easier to drive than both old GT3 and current GTE that we race in FIA WEC, so it is an easy adaptation.”

You’ve been quick at Monza in the past even if you’ve not had the results you would have liked. What’s the approach heading into the first race weekend of the season?

“Honestly, Monza is one of the circuits I have struggled a little bit actually, but with the new car it is another experience and I feel much more comfortable now. As I said if we can all convert our test pace into the race, we should be good.”

You’re combining this programme with your WEC challenge but jumping from car type to car type is something you are now used to?

“I’m quite used to it now, switching between all sorts of cars. I feel comfortable in each of them after a few laps which is a good thing to have as a driver. I’m looking forward to Monza in the new GT3; all three of us are fired up for the new season ahead.”
